About Us
Bee the Change Microfarm was founded in 2019 by partners Susanna and Ian upon principles of responsible land stewardship and building healthy ecosystems to form healthy communities. The farm was originally located on the central coast of California, a quest for self-sustainability on a single acre parcel. Natural beekeeping, followed by chickens, ducks, quail, geese, and rabbit, quickly developed into Bee the Change, which has more recently moved to Willits where their birds roam under the shade of second-growth forest. In addition to heritage poultry and honeybees, BtC also grows organic produce, raises Kunekune pigs for meat, breeds rare poultry varietals for livestock conservation, and encourages biodiversity via planting native plants and trees.
Practices
BtC chickens and ducks are given free access to roam the forest, eating bugs, plants, seeds, and anything else they desire, all while enjoying the shade of our numerous trees. Birds are free-fed supplemental, certified organic chicken feed sourced straight from a local mill in Petaluma. Quail live in a roomy coop and are fed organic game bird feed. BtC is striving towards organic certification in 2024. CA Egg Handler #CA-3934.

Signature crops: Rainbow chicken eggs
